How long does information stay on my Credit Report?

Rental payment information remains on your credit report 6 to 10 years, depending on the type.

Information reported to the Credit Bureaus can stay on your account for several years which means it can have a long term impact on your credit. 

Negative information: 

  • Late payments/collections remain up to 6 years in Canada, 7 years in the U.S. 

Positive information: 

  • Active paid accounts remain as long as they are open and being reported
  • Closed, paid accounts can stay on file for up to 10 years from the last report date
